Me & Lil' Bean

Hey, I’m Kim! Mom to three awesome adult humans, sidekick to my dog Moo (yes, really), and reluctant servant to our cat, Stella… Artois.

I was raised in Montreal, surrounded by a large extended family; my mom, siblings, my Gran, aunts, uncles, and cousins all within shouting distance. That deep sense of community shaped me, and I’ve carried it with me ever since.

Thirty years ago, we moved to Calgary from Ontario just three weeks before giving birth to my first baby. Between the stress of relocating and leaving behind my support system, I felt extremely isolated and overwhelmed. Breastfeeding didn’t come easily, and three months after my baby was born, my father passed away. Grief, exhaustion, and postpartum depression hit hard. Felt like it came with concert tickets.

I learned firsthand how vital support is in those tender early days no matter what is going on in your life.

After raising my own kids and supporting students with special needs for years, I felt called to walk alongside new families as the support I once needed.

Birth is transformational. Through this life-changing transformation to becoming a parent there will, undoubtedly, be some challenges. Having a "team" to support you and make the journey go more smoothly goes a long way. No one needs to go through it without a village.

So here I am...showing up with open hands, arms, and a full heart, holding space so parents feel seen, heard, truly supported, and empowered.

With gratitude and humility, I acknowledge that I live, work, and support families on the traditional lands of the Blackfoot Confederacy; Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani, as well as the Tsuut’ina Nation and the Îyârhe Nakoda Nations of Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley. This land, known as Moh’kinsstis, is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3.
